NEW YORK (AP) - The last two men who had been fighting charges in a sweeping, 63-person New York City street gang case have pleaded guilty just as their cases were going to trial.
Manhattan District Attorney Cyrus Vance Jr. announced that Gabriel Shelton and Sean Terrell Jr. pleaded guilty Thursday to charges including conspiracy. Terrell also pleaded guilty to attempted murder.
With Thursday’s pleas, 62 defendants have pleaded guilty. One other case is sealed.
Shelton has been promised a 21-year prison term and Terrell a 16-year sentence. Their lawyers didn’t immediately respond to requests for comment after court.
Shelton and Terrell were among the dozens arrested last year in a takedown of three rival East Harlem street crews. Vance says the groups’ turf war was responsible for three killings and 30 shootings.
