LAFAYETTE, La. (AP) - State police say a two-vehicle crash in Lafayette Parish left one person dead and another facing criminal charges.

The accident happened Thursday afternoon on Louisiana Highway 342 east of Highway 35.

Troopers’ say their investigation indicates that 22-year-old Blaire Duhon of Scott was driving a 1993 Chevrolet truck west on 342, approaching a curve. A 2006 Chevrolet truck driven by 74-year-old Jerry Meaux of Duson, was approaching the curve while heading east.

Duhon’s car crossed the center line and struck Meaux’s vehicle head-on. Meaux who was not restrained, was pronounced dead at the scene by the Lafayette Parish Coroner. Troopers booked Duhon with DWI, vehicular homicide and driving left of center. Duhon was booked into Lafayette Parish Correctional Center.
