BATON ROUGE, La. (AP) - The Louisiana High School Athletic Association is requiring the Mandeville High School baseball team to forfeit eight games because one of its players was an ineligible student.

In a ruling made public Thursday, the LHSAA says it also is fining the school $200 and requiring coach Mark Weinmunson to attend a review course of the association’s rules.

The LHSAA, which keeps the names of students involved in such rulings private, says Mandeville High School reported its own violation.

The LHSAA says the student in question will remain ineligible until he has attended Mandeville High School for one year, after which he will have to sit out 25 games, matching the number of games he played as an ineligible student.
