SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (AP) - A convicted sex offender in South Dakota has been sentenced to 18 months in prison for failing to register with local authorities.

U.S. Attorney Brendan Johnson says 43-year-old Raynard Bad Moccasin was also ordered to spend five years on supervised released.

Authorities say Bad Moccasin failed to register as a sex offender between May and September 2013. He pleaded guilty on January 2014.

The U.S. Attorney’s office says Bad Moccasin was previously convicted of a sexual offense in federal court and is required to register as a sex offender for the rest of his life.
