CLINTON TOWNSHIP, N.J. (AP) - Two men are safe after their boat capsized in a New Jersey recreation area thanks to the actions of a birdwatcher and a good Samaritan.

Strong winds turned the boat over at Spruce Run Recreation Area in Clinton Township on Thursday, sending Chris Coffe of Jackson and Justin Mulitore into the water.

Frank Sencher, who went to the area to watch birds, tells the Courier News of Bridgewater (https://mycj.co/1pwZskm ) he called 911 and ran through the campground looking for someone with a boat.

A Samaritan boater went out and rescued the men, who were wearing life jackets.
