GRAIN VALLEY, Mo. (AP) - A 2-year-old boy who wandered away from a gathering at his home has died after being found floating in an above-ground pool in the rear of the residence.

The Jackson County Sheriff’s Office says deputies responded to a 911 call at 5:45 p.m. Wednesday in Grain Valley. The child’s mother told investigators family members lost sight of the boy for a period of time before finding him in the pool.

The child, identified as Zeb’Ulen Klaus, was taken to a hospital, where he died.

Autopsy results are pending.
