QUEENSBURY, N.Y. (AP) - Police say a logger has died in an accident in eastern New York.

The Warren County Sheriff’s Office says 41-year-old Kevin Bullard of Lake Luzerne was lowering an upper section cut from a 50-foot tree in the town of Queensbury when the birch toppled to the ground at about 1 p.m. Wednesday.

Bullard suffered massive internal injuries and was pronounced dead several hours later at a hospital.

A co-worker wasn’t hurt.

Deputies say the initial investigation showed the tree’s root system wasn’t sufficient to support the additional and shifting weight at the top.

Queensbury is 50 miles north of Albany.
