WALLINGFORD, Conn. (AP) - State police have identified a man who died in a garbage truck crash on Interstate 91 in Wallingford.

Troopers say the driver, 54-year-old Joseph Palmisano of New Britain, was killed when the truck rolled over Thursday afternoon in the northbound lanes near Exit 14. Authorities say a passenger, 56-year-old Clayton Shepard of Windsor Locks, was seriously injured but is expected to survive.

The truck hit an embankment after rolling over. No other vehicles were involved.

Troopers shut down the center and right northbound lanes for several hours during the emergency response and cleanup.

State police are trying to determine the cause of the crash.
