NORMAN, Okla. (AP) - The Sam Noble Oklahoma Museum of Natural History at the University of Oklahoma is being honored with the one of the highest prizes given to museums and libraries.

The Institute of Museum and Library Services announced Thursday the museum is among 10 recipients of the National Medal for Museum and Library Service. The award will be presented by first lady Michelle Obama at the White House on May 8.

Other honorees include the Brooklyn Botanic Garden in New York; the Chicago Public Library; the Children’s Museum of Indianapolis; the Las Vegas-Clark County Library District; the Mid-Continent Public Library in Independence, Mo; the Mystic Aquarium in Mystic, Conn; the North Carolina Museum of Natural Sciences; the Octavia Fellin Public Library in Gallup, N.M.; and the Yiddish Book Center in Amherst, Mass.
