FREEPORT, N.Y. (AP) - Police are looking for a man who robbed a Long Island liquor store of $9,000 worth of alcohol.

It happened at Crosstown Wine and Liquor in Freeport Thursday morning.

The store’s owner says a customer selected 70 expensive bottles, including Johnny Walker Blue Label Scotch priced at $200 a bottle.

Kevin Qui says the man said he was holding a party for 250 people.

Newsday (https://nwsdy.li/1f8JOrl ) says it was a scam.

Qui says the credit transaction appeared to go through after the thief called the credit card company for approval on the large purchase.

Qui says he called his bank to confirm the money came through and the cases of alcohol were loaded into the man’s U-Haul truck.

The truck was later found, but the alcohol was gone.
