COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) - Several law enforcement agencies are scheduled to participate in training how to rescue people from swiftly moving water.

Agencies including the Columbia Fire Department, Irmo Fire District, Lexington County Fire Service, Lexington County Sheriff’s Department are participating in an exercise on the Saluda River. It’s scheduled for Friday.

The West Columbia Fire Department and Cayce Department of Public Safety are also taking part.

Organizers say they do this kind of practice to make sure agencies know how best to work together in responding to water emergencies.
