BURLINGTON, Vt. (AP) - A 71-year-old Vermont man is being held without bail after he pleaded not guilty to attempted murder and aggravated assault charges in the shooting and wounding of one daughter and assault of another daughter.

Police say the incidents followed an argument at a Hinesburg residence at just after 8 p.m. Thursday.

Police say Kenneth Clark shot 44-year-old Dawn Hall in the hand and chest. Hall was hospitalized in stable condition.

The Burlington Free Press (https://bfpne.ws/1fzOxgh ) reports Clark was charged with one count of attempted murder in the shooting of Hall. A second charge of first degree aggravated domestic assault with a weapon involved another daughter.

Clark was ordered to undergo a mental health evaluation.
