ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (AP) - Authorities say a man has died after a vehicle he was a passenger in crashed into a utility pole in Albuquerque.

The Bernalillo County Sheriff Department says a pickup truck traveling south around 7 a.m. on Coors Boulevard near Gun Club Road somehow went off the road.

Sgt. Aaron Williamson says the impact of the crash resulted in 22-year-old Kenneth Martinez being pronounced dead at the scene.

Williamson says the female driver was taken to the hospital for her injuries.

Her identity is not being released at this time.

Authorities are investigating whether alcohol or drugs was a factor.

Utility workers repairing the pole have temporarily closed part of Coors Boulevard.
