HACKLEY, La. (AP) - Officials of Washington Parish Fire District 3 marked the opening of a new central fire station in Hackley by ceremonially cutting two fire hoses linked together.

Inaugural ceremonies took place at the station this past week, The Daily News reports (https://bit.ly/1ihOydi ).

Fire board resident Justin Porche says the department was incorporated in 1974 with only one pumper.

The department has grown to include two pumpers, two tankers, a rescue truck and a brush truck, Porche says.

With the opening of the central station in Hackley, the old Hackley fire station and the Hayes Creek station will close. The department’s station in the Clifton community will remain open.
