SACO, Maine (AP) - Officials in the Maine city of Saco say workers plan to clean up glass and debris found in sand along a beachfront street near Ferry Beach.

Saco’s Public Works Department tells WMTW-TV (https://bit.ly/1rxpKAI ) that the sand came from the mouth of the Saco River around the pilings of the pier at Camp Ellis.

City officials say they dug down deeper at Camp Ellis this year and may have hit an area of trash.

Officials plan to clean up the glass and debris before tourists start visiting the beach.
