CHAMPAIGN, Ill. (AP) - Organizers of Champaign-Urbana’s Illinois Marathon say they are keeping in place this year the tight security measures started for last year’s race.

The marathon will be run Saturday through Urbana and Champaign.

According to The News-Gazette in Champaign (https://bit.ly/1tLvGYV ), marathon Emergency Services Coordinator Scott Friedlein says tighter security will include increased security workers and race staff.

Friedlein also said runners and spectators should keep their eyes open for anything that looks out of place and report it.

Tighter security was added after last year’s bombings at the Boston Marathon.

This year’s Illinois Marathon is expecting more than 21,000 runners for a series of races over the weekend.
