CHARLSTON, Ill. (AP) - An Eastern Illinois University trustee is stepping down after taking a job outside the country.

The university said Friday the resignation of William Dano of Oswego’s was effective earlier this month.

Dano has been on the Charleston university’s board since 2011.

Joe Dively is chairman of the board of trustees. He called Dano a focused trustee who took his work seriously.

Gov. Pat Quinn will appoint a replacement. The governor appoints seven of the school’s eight trustees. The eighth is a student elected by the student body.
