FOLSOM, La. (AP) - A fire district that serves the Folsom area of St. Tammany Parish wants voters to renew a 10-year tax to pay for improvements and maintenance of its facilities and equipment.

Nola.comThe Times-Picayune reports (https://bit.ly/1iWcaE6 ) St. Tammany Parish Fire Protection District 5 is seeking a 10-mil tax renewal.

Fire Chief David Pittman says the tax would generate about $293,000 for the district.

The renewal would start in 2016 and last for 10 years.

The election is May 3.
