GLENDALE, Ariz. (AP) - Police say a 62-year-old Glendale man is dead after he was struck by a driver who left the scene.

Police spokeswoman Tracey Breeden says 62-year-old Pete Rivas was walking in an unmarked crosswalk around 11:30 p.m. Saturday when he was hit by a white SUV.

Breeden says the driver left the badly injured Rivas and drove to a nearby Circle K near 59th Avenue and Bethany Home Road.

Breeden says he inspected his SUV and then fled south on 59th Avenue with a male passenger.

Police say the driver is described as black, about 30 years old with a muscular build and short hair that is possibly braided.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Glendale police or Silent Witness at 480-WITNESS.
