MARSHFIELD, Mass. (AP) - Authorities say a pipe bomb has been destroyed by state police in Marshfield, and there are no reports of injuries.

The state fire marshal’s office said the pipe bomb exploded when police performed diagnostic tests on it while trying to disrupt it Sunday evening. A spokeswoman says the pipe bomb was sensitive to shock and friction.

The Patriot Ledger reports that device was a black object wrapped in electrical tape and with wires sticking out of it.

At least one local business was evacuated while police investigated.
