WHEELING, W.Va. (AP) - An Ohio County Board of Education candidate says one of his campaign signs has been torched four times. But it’s still standing.

Tim Burch is puzzled by the repeated vandalism of the sign. He tells The Intelligencer and Wheeling News-Register (https://bit.ly/1rwHYCo ) that other candidates’ signs nearby haven’t been touched.

Burch says the first fire occurred about two weeks ago. Someone sprayed an accelerant on grass and weeds under the sign and ignited it. He says the sign sustained little damage.

Damage increased with each subsequent fire. Birch says the bottom of the sign has now “pretty much melted away.”

He says he hasn’t found it necessary to report the vandalism to police.
