LATHROP, Calif. (AP) - A Central California man convicted of killing his wife and attacking his two young daughters with a screwdriver has been sentenced to more than 22 years in prison.
The Record of Stockton reports (https://bit.ly/1luGNBG) that a judge sentenced 39-year-old Charlie Dumlao on Monday to 15 years to life for the slaying of his wife, 43-year-old Evangeline Dumlao, and another seven years for the attack on the girls. A jury found Dumlao guilty last month of second-degree murder and two counts of assault with a deadly weapon. The jury also concluded Dumlao was sane during the 2012 attack.
Authorities say San Joaquin County sheriff’s deputies found Dumlao kneeling over his wife’s body holding a large knife when they responded to the Lathrop home the couple shared with roommates.
The couple’s 8-month-old and 7-year-old daughters had superficial wounds.
