TULSA, Okla. (AP) - A native of India who was formerly sponsored by a Tulsa 5th grade class will visit the school this week.

George Ebenezer was a fourth grader in India when he became part of Compassion International’s Child Sponsorship Program. Phil Martin, a 5th grade teacher at Mingo Valley Christians School, had his classes sponsor Ebenezer from 1987- 1998.

Ebenezer grew up to become a missionary, running an orphanage with his wife in their home in Bangalore, India. He has kept Mingo Valley updated on his ministry projects and needs, and Friday he will come to Tulsa for the first time. His arrival will be met with a group of well-wishers including Martin, now a pastor at Tulsa Bible Church.

The school will honor him with a reception on Sunday.
