DU QUOIN, Ill. (AP) - The man named two months ago to manage the Illinois state fair in southern Illinois’ Du Quoin (doo-KOYN’) is on leave pending an undisclosed state investigation.

Illinois Department of Agriculture spokesman Jeff Squibb would not divulge specifics of the probe involving Shannon Woodworth. Squibb says only that the department’s director “has no tolerance for employee misconduct.”

Woodworth’s attorney, Mark Kochan of Herrin, said only that his 47-year-old client from West Frankfort has been directed not to discuss the matter publicly.

Woodworth was named the state fair’s manager in February.

His yearly salary is $71,000.
