LA CROSSE, Wis. (AP) - Two parents are looking forward to bringing their baby daughter home from a La Crosse hospital this week - three months after she was born prematurely.

Hope Dobson was about the size of a Beanie Baby when she was born Jan. 27 at just 1½ pounds. She is still a month away from her projected birth date.

Dr. Kate Richmond is medical director of the neonatal intensive care unit at Gundersen Health System. Richmond tells WXOW-TV (https://bit.ly/1ixtn2e ) the baby’s homecoming Friday will be the earliest Gundersen has released a preemie as small as Hope.

Richmond says Hope has had an “extraordinary team of multidisciplinary specialists who have been watching every breath she has taken for the last three months.”
