GENESEO, N.Y. (AP) - A 61-year-old man has pleaded guilty to shooting his wife to death in late February and attempting to bury her body in the woods near their rural western New York home.

Local media reports that Gary Flemke pleaded guilty Tuesday in a Livingston County court to second-degree murder and tampering with evidence in the killing of his 58-year-old wife, Marcia.

Authorities say Flemke shot her multiple times on Feb. 28 and dumped her body in the woods behind their home in the hamlet of Hemlock, 25 miles south of Rochester.

The wife’s body was found by deputies who started a search after an out-of-state relative told police said she couldn’t be reached.

Flemke is facing 20 years to life when he’s sentenced July 1.
