CLARKSBURG, W.Va. (AP) - A newlywed couple has been charged with killing a Clarksburg man whose body was found in a remote area.

The Harrison County Sheriff’s Department arrested 21-year-old Shane Miller and 19-year-old Tracy Renee Miller on Wednesday. Each is charged with first-degree murder.

The couple is accused of beating 57-year-old Darrell Golden, and then taking him to the pond and drowning him.

Sheriff Albert Marano said Thursday that the Millers were married this past weekend.

Marano says police believe the slaying followed an altercation.

Both suspects are being held at the North Central Regional Jail. Jail records didn’t indicate whether either suspect has an attorney.

A fisherman found Golden’s body March 20 near the pond in a remote area between Lumberport and Clarksburg. His family had reported him missing on March 17.
