LONG BEACH, Calif. (AP) - Five people have been charged with murder in the death of a 60-year-old Long Beach man beaten in his recreational vehicle, which was then set on fire.

A Los Angeles County district attorney’s statement says the three men and two women, whose ages range from 19 to 35, pleaded not guilty Thursday. Bail was set at $1 million apiece.

Prosecutors allege the five would regularly visit the RV of Thomas Taylor, but at some point Taylor told them he didn’t want them coming around anymore.

Prosecutors say they returned on the night of Jan. 27, beat him to death, then set fire to the RV with his body inside. The defendants were arrested several days later.

A preliminary hearing is set for June. They could each get 25-years-to-life in prison.
