TUSCALOOSA, Ala. (AP) - A man has been sentenced to life in prison after pleading guilty to rape and murder charges stemming from two October 2010 attacks.

AL.com reports (https://bit.ly/1i4M7X7 ) 33-year-old Ellis Lamont Patton was charged with 7 felony offenses after strangling a woman who tried fighting him off and sexually assaulting another woman while he forced her 8-year-old daughter to watch.

According to court records, Patton threatened to kill the 46-year-old woman if her daughter left the room during the attack.
