ATLANTA (AP) - Atlanta Mayor Kasim Reed will be leading a trade mission this month to Brazil, seeking new business opportunities for the city.

Joining Reed will be the president of the Metro Atlanta Chamber, the general manager of Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport, city council members and economic development officials. Business leaders and representatives from Georgia Tech and the University of Georgia are also expected to participate.

Reed said this week the goal is to promote Atlanta with potential investors and help local companies expand business opportunities. Reed plans to meet with elected officials in Sao Paulo and Rio de Janeiro during the trip, scheduled for April 5 through April 12.

Reed says he’s confident the trade mission will strengthen Atlanta’s position as an international economic capital and foster job creation.
