SANTA ANA, Calif. (AP) - Police in Orange County say two people found dead inside a condominium were a couple in their 70s who had been living together for 25 years, and their deaths are being investigated as a murder-suicide.

Santa Ana police Cpl. Anthony Bertagna (burr-TAHN’-yuh) said Thursday afternoon that 78-year-old Freda Bryson and 71-year-old Michael James Worden both died from gunshot wounds, and a handgun was found at the scene.

Bryson’s daughter had called police for assistance, saying she had not heard from her mother recently. That led to the discovery of the bodies on Wednesday night.

It’s unclear how long they had been dead.
