MANSFIELD, La. (AP) - A jury in DeSoto Parish has convicted Brian Horn of first-degree murder in the death of 12-year-old Justin M. Bloxom on March 30, 2010.

The jury returned the verdict Wednesday afternoon.

On Thursday, the same jury will decide whether Horn will spend the rest of his life in prison or face death.

The Times reports (https://bit.ly/1pUM5p3 ) the 37-year-old Horn appeared emotionless when the verdict was announced.

Deputies ushered him out of the courtroom and downstairs to a vehicle that transported him back to the DeSoto Parish Detention Center across the street.

Lead defense counsel Daryl Gold said he was not surprised with the verdict. He said Horn had offered previously to plead guilty in exchange for a life sentence. The state would not accept the plea.
