GAUTIER, Miss. (AP) - The city of Gautier has received a $5,000 grant to conduct a study on whether to make it smoke-free.
Mayor Gordon Gollott tells The Sun Herald (https://bit.ly/1k2cOTj) the city will hold a public hearing on April 15, just before the council meeting, at which the American Lung Association will give a presentation.
Gollott said a main issue is cigarette butts as litter throughout the city, which can end up in drainage. He is hoping by eliminating smoking in public buildings, the litter problem will also be reduced.
