SOUTHFIELD, Mich. (AP) - Police say a man accused of firing into a suburban Detroit night club and killing a female customer has pleaded no-contest to second-degree murder.

Thirty-four-year-old Deangelo Eady of Southfield made the plea Wednesday in Oakland County Circuit Court in Pontiac.

A no-contest plea isn’t an admission of guilt but is treated as such for sentencing purposes. Eady faces up to life in prison at his sentencing May 13.

Southfield police say he fired several shots at the Myst Ultra Lounge following a March 2013 confrontation with security guards at the club. A slug went through a window, striking 33-year-old Nicole Riggs in the head.

Police Chief Eric Hawkins called the slaying “truly senseless.”
