MARIETTA, Ga. (AP) - Neighbors of a planned group home for neglected children in Atlanta’s northern suburbs are objecting to the project.

Rachel Naddor tells The Marietta Daily Journal (https://bit.ly/1gqcwh7) that she was surprised by the opposition she encountered at a Tuesday planning commission meeting. The commission recommended that her plans for the group home be denied.

Naddor had requested a special land use permit to open an orphanage in the home she purchased in 1997 on Clearwater Drive, between Powers Ferry Road and Lower Roswell Road. On Tuesday, she gave a 10-minute presentation to the commission about her passion to help at-risk or abused children.

Planning Commission Chairman Mike Terry he had been inundated with emails from people against the permit being granted, with at least a dozen in the past few days.
