BOYNE VALLEY TOWNSHIP, Mich. (AP) - An organization that promotes stewardship of Michigan’s 11,000 inland lakes will discuss issues such as invasive species and riparian rights during a three-day convention at northern Michigan’s Boyne Mountain Resort.

The Michigan Inland Lakes Partnership meeting runs from Thursday through Saturday. It’s open to professionals, students, local and state government officials, riparian landowners and others with an interest in inland lakes.

The convention will include discussions, workshops, tours and exhibits.

Friday’s keynote speaker is Bill Rustem, director of strategy for Gov. Rick Snyder.

Among other topics will be inland lake research, natural shorelines, lake monitoring and youth stewardship development.

The resort is in Charlevoix County’s Boyne Valley Township, about 40 miles northeast of Traverse City.
