GANADO, Ariz. (AP) - Work begins soon to reconstruct six miles of roadway between Ganado and Window Rock on the Navajo Nation.

The $7.7 million project on State Route 264 starts May 7. Crews will lay new asphalt, widen the existing shoulders, extend drainage pipes, and install new cattle guards, guardrails and barbed wire fencing.

The Arizona Department of Transportation says drivers should expect narrow traffic lanes, reduced speed limits and delays of up to 30 minutes.

The project is expected to be complete this fall.
