LEXINGTON, S.C. (AP) - A Lexington County woman has been sentenced to 30 years in prison for killing her husband four years ago.

A jury found Shellie Davis guilty of murder last week. She was sentenced Wednesday.

Prosecutors say Davis shot her husband, Jermaine, in the back of the head in September 2010. They say she was jealous and didn’t want anyone else to be with him.

Davis‘ lawyer says she was a battered woman who killed her husband because she was scared of him.

After shooting her husband, Davis went to a friend’s house in Charlotte, N.C., and shot herself in the head, but survived.
