CONVIS TOWNSHIP, Mich. (AP) - Authorities have destroyed more than 250 old sticks of dynamite that were found in a southern Michigan barn.
The Battle Creek Enquirer reports (https://bcene.ws/1efdj4r ) bomb squads from the Michigan State Police and the City of Battle Creek on Thursday disposed of the explosives, which turned up in Calhoun County’s Convis Township.
Sheriff’s deputies responded Wednesday after a resident said a family member who had stored dynamite in the barn had died. Authorities say they initially were told there might be 15 to 20 sticks of dynamite, but they report they found 256 in all.
The dynamite was moved to a field and destroyed.
