GLOSTER, Miss. (AP) - The Amite County coroner says a Liberty man was killed Wednesday when a tree he was cutting fell on him.

Coroner Cam Sharp tells The Enterprise-Journal (https://bit.ly/1kvSgyz ) that 39-year-old Justin “Tub” Kirkland was killed around 10:50 a.m. in a wooded area off Nash Road east of Gloster.

Kirkland worked for a timber company, but Sharp says it is unclear whether he was on the job at the time of the accident or was doing the work on the side.

Sharp says there is nothing to indicate the death was anything other than an accident though his investigation is continuing.

The coroner says Kirkland left behind a wife and two children.
