WATERVILLE, Maine (AP) - The mother of missing Maine toddler Ayla Reynolds is holding a birthday vigil.

Organizers say the event Friday evening in Biddeford is expected to be the last public event organized by Trista Reynolds and her supporters. Reynolds said she wants the vigil at Mechanics Park to be a celebration of Ayla’s life and not a somber event.

Reynolds asked prosecutors last month to bring child endangerment charges against Ayla’s father.

Ayla was in Justin DiPietro’s care when he reported her missing on Dec. 17, 2011. Investigators who found blood inside the home concluded the child is no longer alive and was a victim of foul play.
