RALEIGH, N.C. (AP) - North Carolina is looking for volunteers to spruce up five Civil War historic sites as part of Park Day, which is being held at about 100 sites across the country.

Volunteers will work Saturday at these sites: Bentonville Battlefield in Four Oaks; Fort Fisher at Kure Beach; Bennett Place in Durham; the N.C. Maritime Museum in Southport and Brunswick Town/Fort Anderson in Winnabow.

Bentonville volunteers will clear brush, bushes and vines from re-enactor camp areas that will be used during the 150th commemoration battle re-enactment. At the museum, volunteers will clean out shrub beds, paint the doors and other tasks. Volunteers at the three other sites will clean trails, landscape and perform other projects.

Refreshments will be provided to all volunteers.
