BATON ROUGE, La. (AP) - Police are looking for suspects in the shooting death of a 25-year-old man who died at his Baton Rouge home.

The Advocate reports (https://bit.ly/1kxfhRr ) that the shooting happened Wednesday night after a group of armed men gathered outside a home on Baton Rouge’s North 35th Street.

The men opened fire around 11:45 p.m.

Twenty-five-year-old resident Travis Mitchell died at the scene. A 38-year-old woman was hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries.

Cpl. Don Coppola Jr., a Baton Rouge police spokesman, said the motive for the shooting and other details have not been determined. No arrests have been reported.

A neighbor said the shooting took place sometime after a white Chevrolet Impala sped up and down the street, apparently staking out the home.

Neighbors said Wednesday’s shooting was not the first time gunfire erupted in front of the home.

One recalled at least two previous shootings, although she wasn’t sure whether either resulted in any injuries.

“Everybody knows this is a troubled house,” Kim Salsberry said.

“This is a death trap,” said Lottie Morgan, who lives nearby.

Both women said they wanted the home’s renter evicted because of the danger posed to them by living near the house.

Bobbie Harris, manager of Restoration Baton Rouge, which manages the lease for the home where the shooting happened, said Thursday she has never had a problem with the home’s renter.

She described the home’s renter as a quiet woman who has lived there for several years.
