RICHMOND, Va. (AP) - A June 10 trial date has been tentatively set for a Mechanicsville man who was driving a car that plunged into a river, killing two sisters.

The Richmond Times-Dispatch reports (https://bit.ly/1efjLsk ) that 23-year-old Andrew T. Walters appeared in Henrico County Circuit Court on Thursday. He is scheduled to return April 16 with his lawyer to confirm the trial date.

Walters is charged with felony murder and involuntary manslaughter in the deaths of 27-year-old Jessica Gallmeyer and 15-year-old Amanda Irby, who were passengers in a vehicle that crashed and overturned in the Chickahominy River on Feb. 3. Police say Walters was fleeing from an officer who attempted to stop his vehicle when the crash occurred. Walters also faces a felony eluding charge.

The sisters died several days after the incident.
