RIVERDALE, Iowa (AP) - Officials at the Alcoa Davenport Works in Riverdale are asking for help naming an eaglet that hatched last week in a nest watched by millions of people over the Internet.
Alcoa spokesman John Riches told the Quad-City Times (https://bit.ly/PUDUOn ) on Monday the company was encouraging people to suggest names for the baby eagle via the Eaglecam blog, Alcoa or Alcoa Davenport Works Facebook page or by tweeting names using the hashtag #alcoaeaglecam. The deadline is Sunday.
The company will select eight to 10 names and allow people to vote online.
The bird is the offspring of two eagles dubbed Liberty and Justice.
Millions of viewers watch the birds on a webcam at alcoa.com/eaglecam.
The eagles had a second egg, but it was destroyed for an unknown reason.
