KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) - Households in Kansas City’s Hickman Mills School District have received anonymous mailings that smear three school board candidates.

The Kansas City Star reports (https://bit.ly/1qdnq11 ) the mailings showed up in mailboxes on Saturday, ahead of the Tuesday election. The fliers attack incumbents Dan Osman and Bonnaye Mims and newcomer Karry Palmer. The fliers also don’t show who paid for them, which violates state law.

Palmer and Mims, a Missouri state representative, said similar false fliers were mailed in the 2013 election campaigns.

All three candidates have been endorsed by the National Education Association, The Kansas City Call and The Kansas City Star.

The other candidates are board member Breman Anderson Jr. and challengers Debbie Aiman, Tanesha Forte, Carol Graves, Shawn Hayes, Clifford O. Ragan III and Sandy Sexton.
