MALIBU, Calif. (AP) - Authorities say a small boat with more than a ton of marijuana aboard has been found on a Malibu-area beach.

The 30-foot-long panga, a type of fishing boat with an outboard motor, washed ashore at around 8 a.m. Monday at Leo Carrillo State Beach just south of the Ventura County line. Authorities say it was piled with bundles of pot.

City News Service reports one person was detained and two others were later taken into custody.
