DUNKERTON, Iowa (AP) - A former Dunkerton football player convicted of carrying a handgun onto school grounds is facing an additional charge in the case.

The Waterloo-Cedar Falls Courier reports (https://bit.ly/1oHYyRQ ) 18-year-old Mar’yo Lindsey Jr. has been charged with a single count of carrying weapons on school grounds in connection with having a gun at Riceville school facilities in late August.

Lindsey was convicted of the same charge last month, but it was in relation to bringing the gun onto Dunkerton property.

Authorities say they found a handgun and marijuana in Lindsey’s gear bag following a game in which he was sent to a hospital for an injury. He was later arrested in Texas.

Court records show Lindsey has pleaded not guilty to the latest charge. Trial has been tentatively set for April 23.
