LOS ANGELES (AP) - Two people were arrested when bottles flew as police tried to enforce a nightly noise curfew during a Venice Beach drum circle.

Los Angeles police Sgt. Laura Curtin says several bottles were thrown as officers sought to silence the musical gathering shortly before 8 p.m. Sunday.

Curtin says two men were taken into custody for interfering with police. They face misdemeanor charges.

City News Service says the event was organized over social media, with organizers calling for several hundred people to stage a peaceful “Solidarity With The Drum Circle” gathering at the beach.

A similar demonstration on March 16 drew up to 500 people, and was shut down by police walking in a flank up the beach, as an LAPD airship circled overhead.
