BOULDER, Colo. (AP) - A 25-year-old Boulder man accused of trying to strangle a police officer after she stopped him on suspicion of riding his bicycle while intoxicated has been sentenced to 90 days in jail followed by three years of probation.
The Daily Camera reports (https://bit.ly/1fYlqXj ) Matthew Tello was sentenced Friday on a felony charge of menacing. As part of a plea deal, prosecutors dropping the three original assault charges.
Police say they were investigating reports that a bicyclist got into a dispute with the driver of a car pulling out of a parking lot Feb. 17, 2013, when Tello began resisting arrest. Officer Beth McNalley was treated for minor injuries.
Tello also was ordered to complete 40 hours of community service and undergo anger management and substance abuse treatment.
